I want to set my machine to dual-boot with Windows 7 and 8 but just wanted to know whether windows 8 Dev-Build can run present day apps like Google Chrome, etc and also games like Dirt 3, NFS Shift 2 Unleashed, etc..Does Windows 8 Dev Build run current-day applications and games?
With regards to backward compatibility, old x86 applications for Windows 7
(and earlier versions) will not work on computers based on ARM architecture;
they will have to be ported.Does Windows 8 Dev Build run current-day applications and games?
Since it's not a stable release there is only one way to find out. Install it and see.Does Windows 8 Dev Build run current-day applications and games?
According to the keynote, "Everything that runs on Windows 7 runs on Windows 8."
Now, with that said, it's the Dev Build, so I would count on having problems running games.
It's a Dev Build, not a beta, or an RC, so it's probably not right for your purposes unless you just want to poke around a bit to get a taste. If you are expecting to be able to use it casually, you'll probably be disappointed.
Edit:
I have it installed on my machine now.
I stand by what I said: I wouldn't expect it to be stable for gaming purposes...
I love the developer tools, though... Time to crank out an app or two. :)
Time to scrape some cash together for a multi-touch display, too...
