I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard. I've just backed up my Mac HDD to an external drive. I want to wipe my Mac HD. And do a clean re install of Snow Leopard. Will I still be able to copy all the apps back to my Mac HD without the install files and directories, for programs like Word and Adobe CS4. I don't have the disks for those right now.
I tried it it with Google Chrome and it worked.Restoring time machine apps. Mac OS X?
Bummer you should have transfered data to another laptop or computer then when the Install asks if you want to migrate your applications you can transfer it to the target disk mode computer. If you haven't formated you HD then just find another computer to migrate to and then pass it back to yours. There is a more laborious method as well yet reply if you want to try to use that one....
Ok here you go thoughts from around the Net....
When you get to this window just choose Migrate Applications not all the other stuff:
